Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now says the final decision on NASA’s presidential candidate lies with the four principals, dismissing ongoing works by a committee mandated to name the Opposition alliance’s flagbearer.
Speaking on Friday at the Wiper Party headquarters in Nairobi when he received defectors from ODM and Labour Party of Kenya (LPK), Kalonzo said the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) cannot handle the divisive matter.
He said the committee will deliberate and forward their report to the four aspirants, after which they will decide who the NASA presidential flag bearer will be. “We will go on a retreat and it is while there that the decision will be made,” he said. The Wiper leader said coalition making has never been an easy task the world over, and the anxiety that the debate around NASA presidential candidate has raised was expected. “We are working on a winning strategy that will take Jubilee home,” he said.
In reference to the seven-day ultimatum given by National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze to name him the flag bearer, Kalonzo said the comments do not represent his party’s position as the MP was airing his own views.
