Commission for University Education (CHE) will undertake a quality audit inspection of all universities starting Monday. Secretary Prof David Some said the commission will focus on admission requirements for degree programmes.
“The attention of the commission has been drawn to the public debate on the quality of our university education. We wish to assure the public that the commission is taking appropriate measures to safeguard the same,” said Some.
The audit will also focus on the quality and integrity of examinations and dissertation, evidence that all academic programmes are accredited. He has also called upon the public to inform the commission of any institution breaching the set universities regulations. Early this month, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i instructed the commission to conduct a special audit in all universities. The audit will end on February 3.
