People are frightened. People feel that their earlier leaders have abandoned them and do not understand their future endeavors.

The Alliance of young politicians from the larger Gusii region are against the scandalous Gusii Unity spearheaded by the old guard and led by Senator Christopher Mogere Obure (born 1950) and Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, say the Unity is for ‘Tumbocrats,’ who have overstayed in office since 1969, pursuing to misguide the future of the Community.

The youthful, ‘Gusii Generational Movement (GGM) from diverse political outfits have come together to push out the old guard from power.

The Chairman of the Group Sylvanus Osoro said: “You cannot teach old dog new tricks, what have they not done for the longtime they have spent in power?’ minus Senator Obure and Maangi ODM party is strong. The two are a mole who seeks to auction the community; however, we can retain Governor James Ongwae.”

The team is led by Sylvanus Osoro ( Chairman) Anthony Kibagendi( Organising Secretary) , Jason Ondabu is Secretary General of the Group comes (Bomachoge Borabu), Engineer Robert Oineke (Bonchari), Japhet Nyakundi (Kitutu Chache North), Elijah Saboke (North Mugirango), John Momanyi (Bobasi), Edward (Bomachoge Chache), Nyamache Joel (Nyaribari Chache), Benard Moseti (Nyaribari Masaba), James Mamboleo (West Mugirango), Ben Momanyi (MP Borabu), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba MP).

Generational Change has signaled the moment when Gusii politicians are facing resistance, thanks to the wild resolve of the youthful team and their supporters, who have adopted a strategy and a style, pioneered not in conventional think tanks but also by youths in other parts of the country, most prominently in Western Kenya under Ababu Namwamba and Paul Otuoma.

Earlier on Monday, there was a telling moment during the ouster protests of Kisii ODM Branch Officials that speaks volumes about Raila Odinga’s campaign for the presidency and some of his most prominent supporters.

On first day of August, 2016, as the team led by Former Kisii Mayor Samuel Omwando stepped up the dissenting views of anti-Jubilee Party in the region.

The telling moment came when Mr Omwando confronted Kisii County Senator Chris Obure about his rabble-rousing meetings warming up to the Jubilee Party . The Former Mayor painted a bleak picture of the Kisii County ODM officials -one where dishonesty, suspicion and political gamble in the region, moreover, the ODM party is not safe.

In reality, Political apprehension towards next year’s polls is up across the county, and Kenya is more vicious than it was during most of the previous two elections. Omwando pointed out the sinking party support in the area to Senator Chris Obure, Deputy Governor Joash Maangi __ key party officials.
