The country is once again engaged in bitter ethnic competition, with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission at the centre of the dispute.
Clinging on the Constitution seems not to help the ruling coalition since it has not been faithful to the law after all, as claimed by their rival, citing the National Police Service and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Opposition being alive to the ethnic nature of our politics have mobilised their supporters to kick out the IEBC due to perceived corruption, incompetence and bias.
Surely, with half of the country supporting them, the Government cannot ignore the anti-IEBC chorus.
It is annoying that the State appears oblivious of the looming danger, and is issuing reckless statements. They are telling off the Opposition in a casual manner as if their demands are inconsequential. May be, they don't understand this country.
In the build up to 2007 elections, the Government refused to listen to murmurs from the Opposition. The result was a country close to the precipice.
Politicians must move fast and close ranks. Unless this is done, ethnic clashes are inevitable. We should not regret when things get out of hand.
