Don't blame the police for riots, it's your fault

Fellow citizens!

Could you sit and watch from home? And let politicians fight their battles? Can you let them play their dirty game? Would there be tear gas? If we all remained in our homes? And worked to better our lives? Would we have been lost in the stampede?

There is no sobriety in riots. At that time, the police are under orders. And will do anything to end the disorder. You will bear all the consequences alone if caught. What would happen if you lost your life? Would your family get any compensation? Just to ask, are you known to any of the politicians? Whilst you are manhandled by the police, are they present to help?

For once I want you to be selfish. Think about your safety as individuals. Let go of the ‘we’ mentality completely. Make personal safety a priority. Do not be used like arrows and bullets. To be unleashed to cause havoc. Whilst the politicians watch from afar. In the safety of their armored cars. We are quick to condemn the police. That they are fools who scored D’s. Whereas we ignore the most obvious threats. Thinking we are safe in masses.

The police may be ruthless in handling us. But we have our share of blame in such situations. That in their duty to restore order. We present ourselves as perpetrators of disorder. We can choose to better this country. By disentangling our lives from politics. We are being used as baits for our own deaths. While the politicians remain untouched and unmoved. Isn’t the past enough to teach us? Or is history repeating itself?

We are quick to make biased posts on Facebook. That only helps fuel animosity among us. Our political affiliations shouldn’t divide us. It doesn’t change the fact that we are Kenyans. We should appreciate and unite in our diversity. And let Kenya be what we want it to be. There is life beyond #IEBCMustGo. Kenya is greater than CORD and Jubilee. It’s time we awoke from our slumber. And learnt to live together as brothers. Or perish together like fools #PEACE
