Khalwale: Planned rally is purely to launch Wetang'ula's presidential bid

Senator Boni Khalwale has assured that Saturday's rally in Kakamega will be purely for the launch of Moses Wetang'ula's presidential bid.

The Kakamega senator, who has been accused by ODM leaders in Kakamega of plotting to use the rally to announce his bid for the governor's seat, said there would be no other agenda during the rally.

"The rally is purely for Wetang'ula to launch his presidential run. It is not one to gauge who is a good speaker or not. There is no need to fear," said Dr Khalwale.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya, who is also the deputy ODM leader, has asked Wetang'ula on several occassions to launch his bid in either Bungoma or Nairobi.

But CORD leader Raila Odinga over the weekend said that the function scheduled for April 2 at Muliro Gardens would continue as planned.

Meanwhile, MPs Paul Otuoma (Funyula) and Michael Onyura (Butula) appealed for calm among leaders and residents of Kakamega as the Ford Kenya leader launched his presidential bid.
