The Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) has rolled out a voter registration programme targeting Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) in the Central Rift region.

The move is aimed at ensuring more PWDs take part in the 2017 General Election. IEBC Central Rift Co-ordinator David Towett said the commission also intends to sensitise PWDs on the importance of exercising their right to vote.

“We are working with their officials, and, so far, we are doing well as we have witnessed an upsurge in the number of those who have registered as voters,” he said.

Speaking at Afraha Stadium, Mr. Towett said all Kenyans deserve a chance to participate in the elections without being restricted by physical challenges.
