Four traders were on Saturday night killed after they were involved in a road accident along Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The accident took place near Mumberes highland school involving a private vehicle and oil tanker at a black spot area.
During the accident, six other traders escaped with serious injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in collided head-on with an oil tanker headed the opposite direction.
Personal belongings that included clothes, vegetables, shoes and money littered the scene of accident at a sharp corner near a swamp.
Confirming the incident, Eldama Ravine traffic commandant Peter Ndambuki said the four died on the spot and their bodies were moved to Ravine District Hospital Mortuary for preservation.
"The survivors and injured traders were rushed to the same hospital and are responding positively to treatment, one of them is critically injured," he said.
He said the traders were headed to Eldama Ravine town from Lotii market while the lorry was moving towards Eldoret direction from Nakuru.
According to the commandant, the tanker occupants escaped unhurt during the 8pm accident that temporarily paralyzed transport along the busy highway for hours.
