Nakuru Catholic Diocese Bishop Maurice Muhatia has urged the Government to invest fully in education and infrastructure to end the cattle rustling menace in Baringo County.
The bishop said the Government would only deal with the vice if it invested heavily in education in the area and improved access to education for pupils living in the interior parts of the county.
Speaking during the flagging off of relief food donated by Catholic faithful's to the affected families and the Diocese headquarters in Nakuru, the bishop called upon area leaders to also support government efforts in bringing peace.
"Leaders in the area are well placed to end insecurity occasioned by cattle rustling activities by preaching peace and harmonious relations among communities in the region as well as and enlightening pupils about the importance of education," he said.
Baringo Deputy Governor Mathew Tuitoek said education was most affected by insecurity within parts of Baringo and that it was affecting investment.
He called upon communities living in the county to engage in peace committees, saying the recent peace caravans seemed to have improved the situation.
