Kenya: Land estimated to be worth Sh5.7 billion belonging to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) cannot be accounted for.
An audit carried out by the Auditor General’s office and dated June, 2014 has revealed that the land may either be in the hands of grabbers or lost in irregular allocations. The report states that KAA has lost part of its land at JKIA, Wilson, Malindi and Lokichogio.
“The figure of Sh5,729,915,000 includes two parcels of land under plots numbers LR.13512 and 14231 at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, both of which have been allocated to third parties, while an undetermined value of land at Lokichogio Airport was also excluded from the balance,” the report, tabled in Parliament, states.
