Former Heritage Minister William ole Ntimama has accused Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto of inciting Mau Complex evictees to re-occupy the forest. Mr Ntimama claimed Ruto has also encouraged his counterparts in the neighbouring counties to allow people back into the forest and has been opposed to plans to acquire alternative land to resettle the squatters. However, Ruto dismissed Ntimama claims saying he would be the last person to subvert an amicable solution to the Mau crisis.
