Ten teachers who were arrested over alleged exam irregularities were arraigned before Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Auka Wednesday.

They were arrested during KCSE examinations at Pala Masogo Secondary School in Homa Bay Sub-county on Monday.

The accused are Felix Odhiambo, Elijah Otieno, Felix Asero, Seth Polo, Collins Omondi, Jeremiah Otieno, George Ochieng, George Otieno, Maxwell Midimo and Brenda Yonge.

The court heard that the suspects allegedly disclosed the contents of Chemistry paper one (number 233/1).

The first two suspects faced additional charges. In the second count, the two were accused of unauthorised possession of examination papers.

In the third count, the first eight accused persons were charged with misuse of examination materials contrary to the Kenya National Examination Council Act.

The teachers denied all the charges.

The Magistrate granted the suspects a bond of Sh2 million, a surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Sh1 million.

The case will be mentioned on November 20, 2024.

The accused persons were remanded at Homa Bay Government of Kenya Prison after they failed to raise the bond.
