Seven people were killed on Monday night when suspected militants attacked a lorry travelling to Dukana in Marsabit County.

The attack occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the Eledimtu area on the Forolle-Turbi road.

The assailants believed to be from neighbouring Ethiopia, were dressed in military uniforms and heavily armed.

They opened fire on the truck, leading to the deadly assault. Seven individuals were killed and two others were injured.

A 16-year-old girl, the lone survivor, escaped the scene unharmed and has since been taken to safety.

The two injured individuals are receiving medical treatment, though their conditions have not been disclosed.

Marsabit County Commissioner James Kamau confirmed the incident, expressing deep concern over the violence.

"We are investigating the attack and are working to provide support to the affected families and ensure the safety of the region," he said.

The incident has heightened tensions and drawn attention to the ongoing security challenges in the border town of Forolle.
