Basic Education PS  Belio Kipsang has condemned the incident that left a KCSE Candidate dead, asking teachers to increase student intelligence surveillance during the exam period.

He made the sentiments a day after a KCSE Candidate at Shiners Boys High School was stabbed following a dispute among students

While overseeing the distribution of exam papers in Nakuru, Kipsang said increased surveillance would help mitigate any conflicts among the learners.

"The incident we had at Shiners Boys on Saturday night was quite unfortunate, and I want to thank our security teams for moving in fast to contain the situation. One they were able to calm the environment and two is that they were able to arrest the prime suspect quickly," the PS said.

"As schools, we must be able to increase our intelligence gathering systems so that we can preempt some of these cases early enough. Some of things grow over time,"

PS Bellio has also assured parents of the safety of their children as KCSE enters week 3.

On Sunday, four students of Shiners Boys were arrested concerning the murder of one of them.

Witnesses who spoke to the media said there was a disagreement over some of the belongings.
