President William Ruto has called on Kenya Defence Forces cadet officers commissioned on Friday, May 31 to execute their mandate with diligence adding that they should abide by their oaths.

Speaking during the Cadet Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru, Ruto urged the officers to conduct their responsibilities with the much-needed commitment and dedication and ensure the safety and security of all Kenyans.

"As future leaders of our Defence forces, you must bear the responsibility of protecting your sovereignty and our collective sovereignty, defending our borders with grace and fortitude and living up to your oath of office," said Ruto.

At the same time, the Head of State praised the officers for picking the military career path adding that becoming a military officer is not easy considering the vigorous training they undergo before being commissioned.

"As you take up your oath today to commission into the esteemed officer cadre of the Kenya Defence Forces, always remember the path you have chosen transcends mere career. A soldier’s way is a noble vocation and you are called to dedicate your lives to service and sacrifice," he said.

For three years, the cadets undergo rigorous evaluation, assessments, and tests in various military disciplines individually and as groups.

Also present during the commissioning was Defence CS Aden Duale, Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri, and other top military officials.
