The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has obtained orders to freeze Sh28 million from the bank account of Kenyatta National Hospital Chief Executive Officer Evanson Kamuri.
Kamuri is under investigation for alleged corruption and economic crimes at the facility.
“The Commission is investigating allegations that the suspect has engaged in abuse of office, conflict of interest, and the irregular awarding of tenders worth Sh634,465,000 to companies associated with him,” stated the EACC on Wednesday, May 22.
Investigative officers raided Kamuri's premises and properties, gathering evidence to support the ongoing probe.
The EACC indicated that this case is part of broader investigations targeting State corporations where officials are suspected of embezzling public funds.
The commission regularly addresses graft and corruption cases, recovering embezzled funds and property.
According to the commission’s latest report, it traced and recovered proceeds of corruption worth Sh63 billion in the 2022-23 Financial Year.
Additionally, illegally acquired assets worth Sh3.8 billion were recovered during the same period.
