Hundreds of Kenyans have gathered at Uhuru Park in Nairobi for the Shujaaz Memorial Concert organised to honour 41 Kenyans who lost their lives during the anti-government protests.

According to activist Boniface Mwangi, who played a key role in planning the event, about 30 artists will perform, including Juliani, Octopizzo, Eric Wainaina, Khaligraph Jones and Trio Mio.

The speakers’ lineup includes representatives from the families of victims of police brutality.

“Kenyans are the organisers of this event. We want to celebrate the sacrifice of those killed by the police,” said Boniface, adding, “The struggle continues. This is a fight for liberation from the lords of poverty and leaders who take advantage of the Kenyan people.”
