Chauhan triumphs at Nyali Golf Junior Series

Thirteen-year-old Shay Chauhan recorded a total of 546 series points to emerge the overall winner in the Nyali Junior 2024 final.

“I have enjoyed today and feel very excited to have emerged the overall winner. I will continue to work hard for me to able to defend my title next year,” said Shay.

The prestigious tournament that brought together 60 talented juniors, who competed fiercely across various boys’ and girls’ categories, saw 11-year-old Nikki Pattni clinch the girls 8-11 years series title on 808 series points.

“It’s really amazing to be the overall series girls’ winner. I would like to thank my parents for their support and the organisers of this event for giving us a chance to play golf,” said Patel.

Several other junior winners in various categories went home smiling after being awarded with prizes for finishing top in the Nyali’s sixth final series tournament.

This vibrant event was organised by Nyali Golf and Country Club under the its Junior Convenor Kailesh Chauhan.

Chauhan said the final series leg has been an exciting day of golf, celebrating the achievements and potential of Kenya’s junior golfers and vowed to make it grow into one of the most important youth golfing events in the region.

“In fact, after the Corona pandemic, the Junior golf had gone down by now it’s getting better with many juniors coming in to train and play. I would like to thank the Club for their support and Parents also for bringing in their children to play this sport. I promise that next year this Junior Nyali series will be bigger, “said Chauhan.

This tournament dubbed ‘a Year of Growth and Competition’ featured young boys and girls from under 8 years to 15 years from across the Coast region golf clubs and was the culmination of the six-leg series which started in February.

The event’s success and its competitive spirit left a lasting impression on the Club Captain Dinesh Sasan, who praised the juniors for their exceptional performances and expressed his commitment to supporting the 2025 Junior Golf Series, ensuring it continues to grow and inspire young golfers.

Additionally, he commended Junior Golf Convenor Kailesh Chauhan for his visionary leadership in introducing and managing the series, which has become a cornerstone for junior golf development in the region.

“The Club thanks all participants, supporters, and families for their unwavering support in making this event a memorable experience. Together, we continue to nurture the next generation of golfing champions,” said Sasan.
