The family of Maxine Tabitha Wainaina is in distress following the disappearance of the teenager.

It his now four days since the 16-year-old went missing after leaving her home in the Kagondo area in Kinoo, along Waiyaki Way.

She left home on December 11 at around 2:30 pm to unknown destination. Maxine was last seen wearing a white jersey and orange trousers.

According to her mother, Jacinta Mwikali Maina, the teenager had not shown any signs of distress or issues at home prior to her disappearance.

Maxine left the house without indicating anything unusual, and her younger sister was the first to notice her absence. Neighbours, who saw Maxine stroll from their home assumed she had been sent on an errand by her parents.

"The neighbours said she left in a hurry and walked confidently towards the main road," says a distraught Mwikali while appealing for help in tracing her daughter's whereabouts.

Acccording to the mother, at no given time has Maxine gone out without the knowledge of her siblings; neither has the daughter stayed out till late hours.

Despite efforts by the family to search for her, there has been no sign of Maxine who is a student at Loreto Limuru High School.

"We decided to give her some time, hoping she might come back, but she hasn't," says Mwikali.  

Unable to locate her, the family reported the disappearance at Kinoo Police Station the following day, as advised by the authorities to wait 24 hours before making a formal report.

The mother has also reached out to Maxine’s schoolmates, but none of them has seen or heard from her. The family has extended the search through social platforms and places of worship.
