Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin has denied online reports alleging that the agency may have released misleading details of the prime suspect linked to the murder of women whose bodies were retrieved from a quarry in Kware, Mukuru Kwa Njenga.
DCI, earlier today, identified the serial killer as 33-year-old Collins Jumaisi Khalusha who is said to have confessed to killing 42 women from as early as 2022 to July 2024.
However, many Kenyans on social media have continued to interrogate several aspects of the ongoing investigation while offering narratives that counter the position of the detectives working on the case.
DCI has faulted influential social media accounts for stoking mistrust in the works of the agency adding that their investigations are above board and can be trusted by Kenyans.
“Francis Gaitho on his X account carelessly and with total disregard to the need to verify information, indicated that there existed no public record of our suspect, and went ahead to post the names, images, and description of another innocent Kenyans by the name Jairus Onkundi,” said Amin in a press update.
