CS urges county to collect garbage from Kangemi memorial park

Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Ole Tuya has urged the Nairobi county government to collect garbage from Kangemi memorial park.
Tuya who was speaking at St Paul Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Waruku, Sunday, said garbage at the park is a serious problem and ought to be addressed immediately.
"There's no debate about the issue and the county government has to address it immediately," she said.
The CS noted that the memorial park is also a graveyard hence it should be kept neat

"We are choking the dead through garbage dumping and respect for them is needed," she said.
She disclosed that on Tuesday she will dispatch officers from the National Environment Management Authority to assess the situation so that swift action can be taken.
Nominated MP Sabina Chege who also attended the service and fundraising said that the public views will be considered when the Finance Bill 2024 is tabled before Parliament.
"Views given by public will be considered when the bill will be tabled before the National Assembly on Tuesday," she said.
Ms Chege expressed confidence that contentious tax proposals would be addressed in Parliament.
Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni urged the public to cooperate with the community health workers.
"Allow the health workers in your homes and also join Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) as it transitions from National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF)," said the PS.
Muthoni said SHIF will ease the burden that many people go through when seeking medicare.
She announced that the government will rollout SHIF in July.
