Officers undergo medical check-up ahead of festivities

At least 300 police officers were screened for various medical conditions in Mombasa ahead of the busy festive season, when they are expected to work round the clock.

The officers gathered at the Burhani Sports Club from the six sub-counties of Likoni, Nyali, Kisauni, Changamwe, and Jomvu to undergo medical screenings.

The free medical clinic for police officers was organised by the Dawood Bohra community as a way of appreciating the men and women who serve citizens.

The officers underwent blood pressure, diabetes, dental, and optical check-ups and received general consultations from doctors from the Bohra community. They arrived at the sports club by 8 a.m. and were eager to undergo the screening process conducted by 15 doctors and their assistants.

The police officers have been assigned to various spots, including roads and tourism sites across the county during this year’s festivities.

His Eminence Koserali Bhaisaheb Najmuddin, a representative of His Holiness Dr Syedna Saifuddin in Mombasa, commended the police service for their “good work” in safeguarding the country and ensuring law and order are maintained.

Mombasa Sub-county Police Commander Maxwell Agoro praised the gesture by the community, saying the officers appreciated the check-ups.

Community coordinator Hamza Saifuddin said the community organized the camp to honour the police for their work and serve them because they serve the masses with dedication.

“This was the inaugural free medical checkup for police officers as a way of honouring their dedication and service to Kenyans. It is a token of gratitude from our community to those who serve us,” said the community coordinator in Mombasa Mr Hamza Saifuddin.

Saifuddin said the community was planning four more camps in the Coast region next year and several others in Nairobi and elsewhere in the country.

He said the services were provided by doctors from the Bohra community in Mombasa adding that they could have a similar camp elsewhere in the country.
