The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has said that Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome must be punished for harassing an IEBC official while performing his duties.

“We take great exception the manner in which MP Alice Wahome harassed an IEBC official while performing his duties. Such is an offence and must be punished,” read the IEBC statement.

A video of the Kandara MP harassing the returning officer, Martin Malonza went viral on social media with most Kenyans saying that the MP should be arrested.

However according to the MP, her agents called and told her that Mr Malonza had disallowed them to sign Form 34B.

"I was ten minutes away from the center and my agents called me alerting me that Malonza had refused them to sign and I called the RO to alert him to wait for me but he did not pick so I asked my agents to delay so I could arrive," said MP Wahome.

"I needed the RO to acknowledge that in his report that a whole stream had been left out and in my capacity as the Constituency Chief Agent this had to be on record, the RO had snatched the forms from other agents and was seeking to leave without them being signed,” she continued.

Here are some of the reactions of Kenyans on social media;

Whether the Kandara RO was wrong or not, Alice Wahome was not the police. She assaulted the man. #ArrestAliceWahome
