Solange Knowles has been captured on camera attacking Jay Z - the husband of her sister Beyonce!

The shocking footage shows the younger sibling lashing out at her brother-in-law in a lift following an after-party at the Met Ball last week.

The reason behind the alleged assault isn't know yet - and the rapper left the event in a separate car to Queen Bey and Solange.

It's not the first we've heard of the Drunk In Love singer's sister lately, after the pair shared the stage at Coachella last month.

Here's all you need to know about Solange's life and career.

Music runs in the family

Like her famous sister, Solange, 27, is a singer, having released two albums to date.

Her debut, Solo Star, came out in 2003, while she followed it with Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams five years later.

In 2013, she launched Saint Records, and announced plans to release her third album on the label.

Their age gap didn't push them apart

The sisters have discussed the age difference in the past, with Solange admitting she doesn't think they're anything like each other in terms of their "character".

She previously said of her 32-year-old sister: "People think there should be this great rivalry between us, but there's never been any competition.

"There's a big age gap and we are two very different characters.

"I try to stand on my own two feet and not talk too much about my sister. But the two of us are still close."

They've even collaborated

The violent outburst came as even more of a shock after the two sisters enjoyed a surprise reunion at Coachella last month.

Beyonce surprised fans at Solange's gig at the festival by turning up for a duet as they enjoyed a weekend in California.

She's a single mum

Solange got married ten years ago to Daniel Smith, 19, when she was just 17 years old, giving birth to their son eight months later in October 2004.

Within three years, the young couple had divorced - but she doesn't regret having a baby so young.

She has explained: "No, I think every decision has made me who I am today. I’ve embraced everything because I know that only God can give life, no one else. I’m happy that I have a beautiful, wonderful, amazing child who’s made me a better person."

She respects Jay Z

It might be hard to believe, but it looks like Jay Z has always been someone she respected.

Discussing her ambitions to run a record label while being so artistic, an interviewer suggested she should have a chat to her brother-in-law.

She laughed: "I know. I have a lot of people to look up to and learn home."
