The Carnivore Grounds was a beehive of activities this Wednesday afternoon. All in preparation for the Akon concert this coming weekend, the organisers were busy setting up state of the art sound and lighting equipment.
After a previous no-show back in 2007, the Mama Africa singer originally from Senegal is scheduled to land tomorrow Thursday at Jomo Kenya International Airport on the 7 pm Fly Emirates flight from Dubai.
Akon’s famed band and whole production team including his manager Mark Singleterry and Head of security Devel Williams were also at the Carnivore grounds. Making a stop at Carnivore from the airport before retiring to their hotel, they talked to the Pulse Team promising a thrilling show.
“He his looking forward to being here finally. He has wanted to come here for a long time. It’s going to be a big show with his whole band and personal Dj here.” His manager Mark Singleterry spoke to Pulse.
Coming to Kenya courtesy of Spartan Group headed by Sam Lentz, the event is set to have a couple of surprises for the fans in attendance for the 90 minute, Saturday and Sunday show.
“We have flown in 3 large LED screens to showcase the performance-never before seen in Kenya.” Sam Lentz spoke to Pulse.
True to form the Pulse crew found the organisers setting up the final preparation to the stage. The preparations included putting in place 2 LED screens on the sides of the stage and a larger 12 by 8 metres LED screen right in the middle of the stage. The carnivore stage has also been enlarged with the catwalk increased by 18 feet.
Performing alongside the America-based Senegalese singers are other local acts, STL, Bamboo and Jay A. Regular tickets are going for Sh2,500 while VIP tickets are going for Sh5,000.
