Rarieda fishermen getting raw deal

Fishermen in Rarieda District are a frustrated lot.

Time and again, they have been forced to sell fish at throwaway prices due to a lack of markets.

It is unfortunate that at times, business people and wananchi determine fish prices, sometimes quoting low prices because fishermen have nowhere else to turn.

This low demand is attributed to a poor road network that makes access to bigger markets impossible. While construction of the Bondo-Misori Road should be a priority, fishermen need a more immediate solution to their dilemma.

The local MP should use part of CDF to erect cooling facilities on the beaches so fishermen can safely store their catch until they are ready to sell.
