Luck has ran out for Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome after 26 ward representatives voted to remove him from office over alleged gross misconduct. Last month Mr. Wahome survived the first ouster motion after he moved to court to challenge the decision of 39 members to impeach him on the similar charges. . The lawmakers hurriedly convened a special sitting after a court ruling cleared the impeachment motion sponsored by majority leader Kingori Wambugu. The Speaker had moved to court to seek orders barring the assembly from impeaching him, arguing MCAs did not follow the right procedure. But he wasn’t second time lucky today when the 26 MCAs seemed to have conspired the ruling Jubilee Party to ensure that Wahome goes home for sure. Minutes before the motion, the party suspended seven ward representatives over indiscipline to deny Wahome any chance of survival. Only four member voted to save him from the impeachment but even that was not enough to overturn the decision of the majority. Wahome has been at the center of a political supremacy battle pitting Governor Francis Kimemia and a section of the assembly. In December last year Governor Kimemia gave his blessings to the MCAs over the first impending impeachment of Wahome Kimemia called on the legislators to expedite the move, which he indicated is in the public interest. “I urge all the MCAs and staff of the county assembly to be guided by the law and hasten their intended business of the motion so that normalcy resumes in the house in the public interest. I assure that no officers will be unduly victimised during this process,” he said. Wahome is believed to be nursing gubernatorial ambitions and has teamed up with Cabinet Secretary to spearhead a bid to remove Kimemia in 2022.
