It is 38 years since the aborted august first, 1982 coup against the late retired president Daniel Moi. lieutenant General Lazarus Sumbeiywo then a major and his late brother, Elijah Sumbeiywo, then-presidential escort commander will be remembered for their critical role in securing Moi and quelling the attempted coup. Elvis Kosgei caught up with the retired general at his sinende farm in Cherangany Transnzoia county and here is Sumbeiywo’s untold story of the failed coup.
