A clause in the parliamentary service bill that seeks to limit the term of the clerk of both the national assembly and the Senate has already put members of both houses at loggerheads. While the proponents of the amendment argue that a clerk should have a term limit and approved by the house, those against the move claim that it amounts to the interference of the civil servants who should be impartial and will be forced to be at the whims of the majority of the members.
