Kenya's petroleum sector reported gradual growth in the use of various products in the market with fuel oils rising by 12% as the lubricants market dipped.
According to the quarter two report by the petroleum institute of East Africa the overall performance of the industry grew by about 6% with demand for products bouncing back after a prolonged electioneering period witnessed late last year.
The report shows a surge in jet fuel which was attributed to increased air travel in Kenya mainly linked to major conferences and meetings the country has held recently. Players in the sector are however concerned with the rise in adulterated fuel despite a tax hike on kerosene.
