The Inside Story: Killer's Corridor Part 1
6th May, 2015
They were the most brutal series of terrorist attacks seen in Kenya since the 1998 Bomb Blast. The Somali Based Al-shabaab Militia began an orgy of violence in sporadic attacks in the Southern County of Lamu, starting in its most populous town, Mpeketoni on June the 15th, just as residents were settling down to watch a FIFA World Cup football match. By the end of the series of attacks three weeks later, 94 people, mostly men, had been slaughtered, with the trail of blood, and angry questions leading straight to the door step of Kenya's security agencies. They, led by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, initially blamed the attack on internal political forces. Part 1 of The Inside Story's "Killer's Corridor" with John-Allan Namu, lays out a trail of murders that were evidence enough that these attacks had all the hallmarks of an Al-Shabaab Terrorist attack.
