A special audit report on the utilization of covid?19 funds by county governments has recommended that the ethics and anti-corruption commission, EACC, and the directorate of criminal investigation, dci, should conduct further investigations to establish acts of criminality in inventory management of covid?19 related items in the ksh.7.7 billion covid?19 allocations. In the report, auditor general Nancy Gathungu says there was widespread violation of procurement laws, with some counties awarding contracts to non?prequalified bidders, while others spent millions of shillings in procuring covid?19 items without valid contracts.
