The coronation of the speaker of the national assembly Justin Muturi on the 22nd of May this year as the spokesperson of Mt. Kenya region split the otherwise near political homogeneous region right in the middle birthing Mt. Kenya east and Mt. Kenya west. The latter resisted Muturi’s coronation to the chagrin of the former Siakago MP who felt used and bulldozed by their bigger brothers. Their support for a Muturi presidency was however short-lived and the region under governor of Meru Kiraitu Murungi made good their threat of having their own political vehicle and thus revived the bus party now called the devolution empowerment party.
