British lawyer, Karim Khan, who was deputy president William Ruto’s lead lawyer at the Hague based international criminal court, ICC, has been elected the new prosecutor replacing fatou bensouda whose term has ended. Khan who also represented former head of civil service Francis Muthaura will serve for a period of nine years starting june 16th 2021. Parties to the international criminal court on friday elected Karim by 72 votes, 10 more than the 62 needed.
