YARA out to boost food security, over 2500 farmers set to benefit

Over 2,500 smallholder maize farmers in 25 wards in Trans Nzoia County are set to receive fertilizer to boost productivity. The fertilizer input for planting and top dressing as well as capacity building through digital enable-ment will raise harvests from the region significantly. Speaking at the flag off ceremony at the Ministry Of Agriculture grounds in Kitale, Yara East Africa's, Vitalis Wafula underscored the importance of this initiative to farmer productivity and profitability. Kenya forecasts the short rains to kick off from September which will enhance crop production in key regions across the country.Trans Nzoia County Governor, Patrick Khaemba anotes that, the kes 22.5 million boost to the food basket country of Trans Nzoia to the vulnerable communities will go a long way in promoting food security in the country.
