President Uhuru Kenyatta issues decree to imprison illegal fishermen on the Indian Ocean

Let’s stay with the coast region where President Uhuru Kenyatta today ordered the arrest of foreign ships engaging in illegal fishing in Kenya’s territorial waters of the Indian Ocean. Uhuru said foreign ships will not be allowed to operate with impunity at the expense of local fishermen. It is estimated that Kenya loses a whopping 10 billion shillings annually from the illegal trade. Uhuru was speaking in Mombasa during the official opening of the Mombasa International Show. Kenya is set to acquire a new ship that will patrol her Indian Ocean territory to secure her fish stocks. The sea patrol vessel to be acquired a at the cost of sh3.6 billion is expected in the country early next year.
