Safaricom announce 15 percent growth in profits

Safaricom, Kenya’s lead mobile service provider, on Thursday released its half year results with a 15 percent growth in profits before tax of 38 billion shillings due to increased revenue from M-Pesa and data. Safaricom’s Chief Executive Bob Collymore also noted the network’s increased voice usage was as a result of reduced prices on 2g calls for its customers. KTN’S Joy Doreen Biira reports
