Wednesday 21st marks the World's down syndrome day, a genetic disorder that occurs
in approximately one in eight hundred live births and the leading cause
of cognitive impairment. While little is known about the disease with
most parents thinking that their children are mentally retarded, a
school in Uasin Gishu county caters for such children amid various
challenges. Mercy Kandie visited the children who in their own way
celebrated the day as they strive to lead normal lives.
