A mass exodus for state and public officers eyeing elective seats is expected in the next 24 hours

7th February, 2022

A mass exodus for state and public officers eyeing elective seats is expected in the next 24 hours, as leaders try to beat a deadline from the office of the president issued last week, demanding that they should surrender their duties in or before tomorrow, February 8th. Head of public service Joseph Kinyua has already ordered the civil servants to hand over their offices and public assets and prepare comprehensive hand-over notes for a smooth transition. Some of the cabinet secretaries expected to exit office include devolution's Charles Keter, Peter Munya (agriculture), Ukur Yatani (national treasury), among others. The law requires that the civil servants eyeing elective seats leave office six months before election.
