GENDER VIOLENCE REPORT; There is a reduction in Nyeri Gender Violence cases

There has been a reduction in cases of gender based violence in Nyeri County since a multi-sectorial approach was taken by the relevant stakeholders. A worrying trend in Nyeri County led to the opening of a special gender based violence unit at the Nyeri county referral hospital and stakeholders say that since then, there has been a significant drop in cases of gender based violence. During a consultative forum that was organized by the Liverpool voluntary counseling center and the Nyeri gender based violence committee under the county government ,stakeholders from different sectors participated in the forum and mapped out a way forward to curb such cases. Nyeri for example had become a source of ridicule due to the number of men who were coming out openly to report violence meted out on them by their partners.
