Terror suspect Samuel Wanjala Salim Wabwire jailed for 20 years

Terror suspect Samuel Wanjala Salim Wabwire has been jailed for 20 years for recruiting children to radical organization, al Shabab Mombasa principal magistrate Diana Mochache made the judgment in a landmark judgment likely to provide precedence for many terror related cases still pending at the court. Wabwire is a former Maseno University student whose operational base was Kilifi where he is said to have recruited children of Gotani Primary School in Kilifi to the militant group. Time and again wabwire has claimed the alleged conspirators wanted him ousted from the institution. Wabwire who took the name Salim Muhamud when he converted to Islam and has severally denied prosecution claims that he was expelled from Maseno University for stabbing a student and instead alleged that he was suspended from the college in 2011 for 1,000 days after being implicated in student unrest. He is also a former imam of Liwatoni mosque in Kilifi County and has been in prison since his arrest in April 20
