County governments are calling on National Assembly to approve proposed budget allocation figures
2nd June, 2015
County governments are calling on the National Assembly to approve the proposed budget allocation figures so as to pave way for planning of county budgets for the 2015-2016 financial year.
Nairobi county governor Evans Kidero says the counties are unable to plan for the next financial year because of uncertainty regarding the amount of money they will get from the national government.
Earlier in the year, the senate had proposed amendments to the 291 billion shillings proposed for county funding, which was later renegotiated to 287 billion shillings by the mediation team. However, the counties say that delays in approving the figure by the National Assembly could cripple their plans for the next financial year, saying the said approvals should be done by tomorrow.
