22nd August, 2014
Members of the Kiambu county assembly are set to go back to school after the county struck a deal with a local university that will see them trained to enhance their capacity. The programme which will be carried out under the public-private partnership will see the members enrolled at the mount kenya university where they will be trained on devolution, research, governance and public administration. The first batch of fifty mcas and staff is expected to start training in september with about 50 slated to join the first class. The staff will benefit from having courses at subsidized fees. The university has also come up with a flexible timetable based on the schedule of the county representatives. The two groups will also collaborate in areas of research and create internship opportunities. The vice-chancellor said the university will also work with the assembly in research to ensure they come up with suitable bills.
