Fears in Nairobi and Naivasha could be consuming donkey meat

5th November, 2013

Fears that residents of Nairobi and Naivasha could be consuming donkey meat have been revived with the discovery of what Naivasha residents believe to be a donkey slaughterhouse. Over twenty donkey carcasses were found in the vast field along the Naivasha –mai mahiu road. According to the owner of the land, some of the carcasses were so fresh, an indication that some of the donkeys may have just been slaughtered. It is widely believed that the donkeys belong to water vendors who use them to transport water to their clients. The area chief and anti-stock theft unit have launched investigations as residents hope the culprits will soon be arrested.
