Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has apologised and promised to take action after a power outage hit the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday night.
In a tweet, Murkomen said that there was no excuse for the incident.
“There is no excuse worth reporting and there is no reason why our airport is in darkness,” said Murkomen.
The Transport CS said that a decision will be made in reaction to the incident after meeting the management of JKIA on Saturday morning.
“Once again I am sorry," he added.
There were reports that generators at the airport had broken down affecting its power backup.
The airport is among facilities that were hit by a national blackout that affected the whole country.
Power supply has since been restored at JKIA and some parts of Nairobi.
