Well, this comes as two police officers were this morning killed and two others injured in an ambush by suspected al Shabaab terrorists. The incident occurred along Lafey- el wak road, Mandera County. The incident comes barely two days after a similar attack in which two Kenyan police convoys were attacked in northern Kenya killing at least one police officer. The al Shabaab group, which seeks to overthrow Somalia’s western-backed government and impose a strict version of sharia law, has carried out regular assaults in neighbouring Kenya in retaliation for Kenya’s contributing troops to an African union peacekeeping force in Somalia.
