EACC probes nepotism claims against MCAs

A team from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is probing nepotism claims at the County Assembly.

 Last week, residents threatened to hold a demonstration in Kitale town to protest against what they described as biased employment at the assembly.

They accused some MCAs of obtaining employment for close relatives and friends — including wives, brothers and sisters — and locking out potential applicants.

They also alleged that MCAs had resolved to share employment slots among themselves. Already, three residents have filed a petition seeking the nullification of a controversial recruitment of 38 officials by the assembly.
