Five children die in Lugari, Kenya, after being struck by lightning

Lightning has struck five children aged between 7 and 13 years who were under a tree shade during a heavy downpour.

Confirming the incident Lugari OCPD Benard Macharia said the children were playing at Lumakanda Boys High School playground before they met their untimely death.

"Five children died on the spot whereas one has been rushed to hospital after they were struck by lightning when they were playing. The children are from different schools," said Macharia.
