Parliament has endorsed a Motion seeking to regulate the boda boda sector and establish a kitty that would enable youth to own motorcycles for the business.
The Motion, sponsored by Saboti MP Eugene Wamalwa, calls on the Government to urgently provide a policy and legal framework to regulate the sector and set up a Boda Boda Fund that would facilitate training and ownership of motorbikes by the youth.
Wamalwa said the sector is growing fast and contributes a lot to the economy yet the Government has ignored it. The Motion, he said, would ensure the sector is formally recognised to curb the soaring unemployment among the youth.
