Renowned Kenyan musician, Hubert Nakitare, popularly known as Nonini, recently shared a poignant revelation about the passing of his elder brother during an interview on the Iko Nini podcast with Mwafreeka.
Nonini, currently residing in the United States, disclosed that his brother, Jude Nakitare, succumbed to tuberculosis several years ago.
In the podcast conversation, Nonini explained that Jude battled with TB for an extended period, and the severity of the illness led to its spread to other parts of his body, intensifying the danger.
The rapper reflected on the challenges of dealing with TB in the past, emphasizing its formidable nature. He noted, "Ndugu yangu alikuwa na TB. TB zamani ilikuwa ni noma. Ilikuwa imejirudia."
Nonini went on to reveal the gravity of his brother's condition, recounting how doctors had to administer injections to combat the disease. He shared, "Unajua TB ikikushika utibiwe, alafu ikushike tena utibiwe, huwa inaanza kususia dawa. Inabidi umeanza dawa kutumia sindano. Mazee alikuwa anadungwa sindano nyingi, alikuwa anadungwa nadhani sindano 48. Lakini ikirudi tena sindano lazima ziongezewe."
Tragically, the artist detailed that Jude eventually lost his life due to complications related to lung problems. Recalling the distressing moment, Nonini stated, "Siku moja alikuwa na shida ya mapafu. Alishindwa kupumua. Alikufa juu ya meza walipokuwa wakijaribu kumfufua. TB ilikuwa noma. Ukiskia TB ina tiba, zamani ilikuwa ngori."
Nonini revealed that he was still a student when his brother passed away, highlighting that Jude was already an adult and employed at the time of his demise.
The rapper had addressed his brother's death around a decade ago in the song 'Waliotuacha,' where he shared poignant insights into the loss and the emotional impact it had, especially with his mother drawing comparisons between him and the departed sibling.
